Wise men with hidden powers, ghosts of slain maidens, cannibalism and ruthless warlords. Dead raised from their rest, gruesome tales of revenge and murder…
Malady – Macabre Tales of Finnish Folk Poetry is a tribute to a lesser-known, darker branch of Finnish folk poetry, an oral tradition that has its roots in the prehistoric times. Sung poetry began to be collected in written form in the 19th century, most famously birthing the Finnish national epic Kalevala.
This anthology sheds light into those long lost times and magic that used to fill everyday life as thoroughly as death.
